Writing practice: Continue writing The Cat in the Hat in blank verse
And being young and raised with mother’s grace,
Shake hands we did, for children aim to please.
Two cat eyes glowed with cunning’s sense of strength
Manipulating good, naive, and weak.
“Wake up!” said fish. “You mustn’t trust these three!
There’s tragedy fair-masked and brightly worn!”
“Your curtain call is coming,” hissed the cat,
“Unless you change your role and mend your lines.”
Then pointing to the kites the fish replied:
“You’ll need to mend those lines, for soon they’ll break.
Their tether, like your hold, is wearing thin.
For once the children wake, they’ll cut you loose.”
The children’s minds did then begin to see
What first was clouded by a cataract.
They saw the fun the cat had with his things
Came at a cost to everyone around.
[ok, whatever. that’s it for today]
